Personal Property

Personal property forms are mailed out or available online early October and due back November 1st, 2022. All persons owning taxable personal property as of October 1st, 2022 are required to fill out a Personal Property form.

Personal property includes all (moveable) property owned by anyone engaged in a business enterprise in the State of Connecticut, unless specifically exempt. Business assets include, but are not limited to, manufacturing and industrial machinery and equipment; office fixtures, furniture, equipment and supplies: farm machinery and tools; tools of your trade; electronic data processing equipment; cables and conduits.

Unregistered motor vehicles and leased equipment located in the Town of Bridgewater are taxable, whether they are a business asset or a personal asset.

Tractors not used for business purposes are not taxable. Horses used for pleasure are not taxable.

Any business or individual required to return a list may obtain the proper form from the Bridgewater Assessor's office, if they do not receive a form in the mail. Failure to receive a form by mail does not excuse a property owner from filing.
